Create a WalletConnect (Reown) account
With WalletConnect you can connect different wallets and DApps or metaverse worlds quickly and securely. Good to know: WalletConnect Inc. rebranded to Reown in 2024. The connection standard is still called WalletConnect, but the developer account and dashboard now run under Reown (with the AppKit and WalletKit toolkits).

How to create your WalletConnect account
The developer account moved to the Reown Dashboard. The steps are the same as before, only the brand and URL changed.
1. Create an account
Open the Reown Dashboard at dashboard.reown.com (formerly cloud.walletconnect.com). Enter your e-mail address and a password.
2. Confirm your email
You will receive a verification email. Click the “Confirm email” button to verify your address.
3. Log in
After confirming your email, log in to the account you just created and get started.
What is WalletConnect?
WalletConnect is an open-source protocol that connects different wallets and DApps or metaverse worlds with each other. In short, it links a Web3 app to your wallet through a secure connection. The protocol is now developed by Reown.
Connect wallets and DApps
If you want to connect a crypto marketplace DApp to a wallet, here is how it works:
- In your browser, open the DApp. Find “Connect to a wallet” and select the “WalletConnect” option.
- You will see a QR code that you scan with your wallet.
- Open your wallet on your smartphone. Most wallets have a scan icon in the top right, or a “WalletConnect” / “Scan (QR)” option in the settings.
- Scan the QR code with your phone.
- Your wallet asks whether to allow the connection. Confirm with “Connect”.
- A secure connection between the DApp and your wallet is now established via WalletConnect.
You can now make transactions in the DApp. Depending on the DApp, you may still need to confirm the transaction in your wallet.
Which wallets & DApps are supported?
You can connect many different crypto wallets to DApps with WalletConnect. These include, among others:
- MetaMask (wallet)
- Trust Wallet, Rainbow Wallet (wallets)
- OpenSea, Etherscan, Uniswap (DApps)
Connect WalletConnect & MetaMask
To connect your MetaMask wallet to WalletConnect, make sure you are logged in and that the MetaMask browser extension is installed and enabled.
1. Open the page
Open the WalletConnect (Reown) page in the browser where the MetaMask extension is installed.
2. Open MetaMask
Click the MetaMask fox in the top right of your browser. If it is hidden, open the puzzle icon and pin MetaMask.
3. Connected Sites
In MetaMask, click the three dots and open “Connected Sites”. Then choose “Manual connection to current site”.
4. Connect
Choose the account you want to connect, click “Next” and then “Connect”. You can now access MetaMask via WalletConnect.
FAQ: WalletConnect and Reown
Is WalletConnect the same as Reown?
WalletConnect Inc. became Reown in 2024. The connection protocol is still called WalletConnect, while the company, developer dashboard and SDKs (AppKit, WalletKit) now use the Reown name.
Where do I sign up now?
The developer account moved from cloud.walletconnect.com to the Reown Dashboard at dashboard.reown.com. The sign-up steps stayed the same.
Do I need WalletConnect to use the metaverse?
Only for blockchain-based worlds like Decentraland, Voxels or Sandbox. Game worlds such as Roblox or Fortnite work without a wallet or WalletConnect.
