The metaverse is a digital universe consisting of many individual worlds. As a user, you can immerse yourself in the digital worlds via the web browser, an app or mixed reality glasses, depending on the world.

What are mixed reality glasses?
Put on virtual reality glasses and enter an artificial or digital world. The glasses reflect what the metaverse world dictates. Now there are also metaverse worlds that allow a connection of the real world and the virtual world.
An example of this would be if you are sitting in a real meeting room and digitally the avatar of a work colleague is displayed to you. VR glasses are not enough for such applications.
With mixed-reality glasses, integrated cameras capture the real world and display digital content. In this way, the digital and real worlds merge even more and interesting areas of application are possible.
Mixed-Reality Headset
In einer Mixed-Reality-Brillen befinden sich zwei Linsen bzw. “Bildschirme” für die Augen. Zusätzlich wird über integrierte Kameras die reale Umgebung erfasst.
Die Brillen sind sowohl VR-fähig als auch AR-fähig. Sie können diese also entweder als VR-Brille oder als AR-Brille nutzen. Es können in der Regel aber auch beide Technologien verbunden werden, um digitale Welt und reale Welt zu verbinden.
Wie kann die Verbindung von VR und AR aussehen?
Beispiel: Sie befinden sich im Home-Office konstruieren zusammen mit einem Arbeitskollegen an einem neuen Produkt. Dank der Mixed-Reality-Brille wird Ihnen der Arbeitskollege aber auch das Produkt digital eingeblendet und sie gestallten interaktiv gemeinsam das Produkt.
VR goggles
Eine VR-Brille ist wie eine Mixed-Reality-Brille aufgebaut mit einer Ausnahme – Sie besitzt keine Kameras und verarbeitet somit nicht die reale Umgebung.
Aus diesem Grund eigenen sich VR-Brillen nur für Metaversewelten ohne Augmented Reality Bezug.
AR glasses
Bei einer AR-Brille werden über das Brillenglas Informationen in die Reale Welt eingeblendet. AR-Brillen werden im Normalfall nicht für des Metarverse verwendet.
